Application Deadlines

The Beim Foundation accepts unsolicited applications for the Minnesota Legacy Program only.  The application deadline is January 18, 2012.

Requests through the Collaborative Grant Program are by invitation of the Beim Foundation only.  Application deadlines will be communicated with the Foundation's request for proposal.

Unsolicited proposals will not be accepted for the Collaborative Grant Program.

Application Procedures

For all applicants, complete applications must be received by the application deadline in order to be considered. Proposals received after the application deadlines will not be considered.  Receipt of your proposal will be acknowledged by e-mail. The Board of Directors meets in the spring and fall. Decisions will be communicated within six weeks following the board meeting

Applicants should submit one, unbound copy of the following materials:

Proposal Narrative

In five- to seven-pages, please describe the following in your proposal narrative:

  • Brief history of the organization
  • A description of the community need the project addresses
  • A description of the project for which you are seeking support including:
    • project goals and objectives
    • specific description of project activities
    • timeframe in which activities will be carried out
    • statement of who will carry out the activities
    • statement of how the community will be involved in the activities
    • number of clients to be served by the project or program
  • A description of how this project will contribute to community building
  • A description of how you will measure success for this project and your plan for evaluation
  • A description of how the project will leverage other resources or have a ripple effect in the community

A final report is required if the applicant has received past funding from the Beim Foundation.  Click to download our Final Report [pdf].

Required Attachments

  • Beim Foundation application form
  • IRS 501(c)(3) Determination letter;  for schools - a letter on the school's letterhead signed by the principal endorsing the proposed program/project; for units of government - a letter on the unit of government's letterhead signed by an individual with decision making authority endorsing the proposed program/project
  • Board of Directors List with affiliations/occupations
  • Agency operating budget - for the organization for the current fiscal year including projected and secured sources of support.
  • Program/project budget including projected and secured sources of revenue.
  • Most recent audit or form 990
  • Statement of Debt - A statement regarding the organization's current debt (if any), including total dollar amount of debt and sources of debt, i.e. mortgage, operating deficits etc.
  • List of institutional contributors with amounts secured and pending for the organization and program/project for the current fiscal year and the most recently completed fiscal year. The list should include specific dollar amounts for each fiscal year for each contributor.
  • Year-to-date Financials
  • Proposal narrative as described on the Beim Foundation website
  • Final report, if past support from the Beim Foundation has been received.
